Meet the Team

Dr. Timi Joy Jorgensen is an Assistant Professor and Director of Financial Education & Wellbeing at The American College of Financial Services. She joined the faculty in June 2020 after completing a six-month fellowship with The College. Jorgensen’s research focuses on diversity, equity, and inclusion in financial services and on financial well-being and empowerment. Jorgensen has been a speaker, panelist, and contributor on the topic of creating a more inclusive and empowering financial services profession. She has spoken at conferences, on radio shows, and to hundreds of couples and single parents at financial literacy courses. Jorgensen is passionate about making financial planning a more approachable and empowering topic available to all American households. Jorgensen graduated with a bachelor’s degree in personal financial planning from Utah Valley University and completed her graduate studies in financial planning at The University of Georgia.

Valencia Gabay is Program Director, Financial Education & Wellbeing. In her time at The College, Valencia has worked to design inclusive learning environments that support equal access to financial knowledge and promote financial wellbeing as part of personal wellbeing. She is an instructional designer, organizational leadership scholar, international presenter, and co-author of Group Coaching and Mentoring: A Framework for Fostering Organizational Change. 

Tori Phillips is the Program Director for the American College Center for Economic Empowerment and Equality®. She is an experienced nonprofit professional who has successfully led communications, design, and community-impact projects. In her role at the Center, Tori works to provide culturally relevant financial education, career advancement opportunities, and resources for Black students and financial services professionals. 

In her previous role, Tori served as the Creative Services Manager for a community foundation in Texas, implementing a new brand strategy which helped increase the organization’s brand recognition, activated greater philanthropic giving, and forged stronger community partnerships.

Tori is committed to lasting, equitable change and brings a creative, strategic, and collaborative focus to her work. She earned a BS from Jackson State University and is currently completing the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy program at The American College of Financial Services.

Jonathan Berens joined The American College of Financial Services in August 2022. He has eleven years of experience overseeing hundreds of projects as a project manager in Higher Education. Before joining The College, Jonathan ran a Project Management Office where he managed close to fifty people. He prides himself on seeing projects to completion while being on time and under budget.

Jonathan resides in Saint Petersburg, Florida where he enjoys spending time with his family and friends while hitting the beach and pool in his downtime.

Holly Henry joined The American College of Financial Services in June 2021 and works as the Instructional Technologist for the team. She has over twenty-four years of working in online learning and specializes in finding and using the best technology tools needed to create an interactive course. Her passion is using technology to add that interactivity without getting in the way of the learning

Holly and her husband live in south Texas close to San Antonio and enjoy feeding the deer, birds, and other wildlife that show up nightly.
